2014 VAA 37 Annual Banquet

          This year, the VAA Chapter 37 Banquet will be Saturday, March 8th. The St. James Inn in Avilla is again the location. Our get-together is in the upstairs banquet room, beginning with cocktails at 6:00 P.M.  A cash bar will be available. Dinner begins at 7:00 P.M.  The menu includes the following excellent choices:

North Atlantic Cod - $20.00

8-Oz. Ribeye - $20.00

Broasted Chicken - $18.00

 * Prices include tax and gratuity

 All dinners are served with baked potato, salad, and fresh baked bread. VAA Chapter 37 will provide all nonalcoholic beverages at no charge. 

Contact Drew or Nancy Hoffman at 260-693-9747 to make your reservations and entrée selection by Sunday March 2nd. If you need to change your plans, cancellations may be made up until Wednesday March 5th by contacting Drew. 

Geoff Robison will collect payment the night of the dinner. (No-shows are asked to cover the cost of their selection) 

Driving Directions: The St. James Restaurant is at 204 E. Albion St., Avilla, IN, 46710. Albion Street is also Hwy 8 thru Avilla. The St. James Inn is a little East of Old Hwy 3 on Hwy 8.

Disney 'Planes' Sequel Trailer

The trailer for the upcoming Disney movie, "Planes: Fire & Rescue," the sequel to the popular animated movie, "Planes," has been released. Following on the success of the 2013 film that featured an ag aircraft with a fear of heights who became an air racer, Dusty Crohopper (voice of Dane Cook), the sequel will again follow the life of Dusty as he discovers that damage he has suffered may mean he'll never race again. High-profile promotional activity for "Planes," included the appearances of a real aerial applicator, an  Air Tractor AT-301 in a Dusty Crohopper paint scheme, at events across the country, including numerous flights during the airshow at AirVenture 2013. 

In "Planes: Fire & Rescue" Dusty enters the world of aerial firefighting. He joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter, Blade Ranger, and his team, including super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicpter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a group of all-terrain vehicles known as the Smokejumpers. Together, the team battles a massive wildfire in a high-energy adventure. Directed by Bobs Gannaway ("Secret of the Wings"), "Planes: Fire & Rescue" will be released in 3D to theatres on July 18, 2014.

Test Pilots discusses the lives, roles and accomplishments of the men and women in America who test-fly state-of-the-art aircraft, putting their safety on the line as they push the vehicles to undreamt-of extremes. One such extreme - that of complete darkness - belies the release Test Pilots: Night Flight. It witnesses aviators Kevin Prosser and Kevin Christensen climbing into an F-16 and driving it up to speeds in excess of 500 mph - under the cover of night, with only their radar, altimeter and other instruments to guide them.
